Photo of the STRZ Spot
By chance a fellow ALPO Jupter observer, Geoff Chester, managed to image Jupiter with the 12 inch A. Clark Refractor from Washington, DC on the same night I was observing from TGC Observatory. It clearly shows the spot in the STRZ and the section of the belt before transiting the merdian.
In the image the spot is considerable larger, possible due to stacking processing and seeing effects. I did not see any of the three white ovals while observing, which just goes to show the ablity of imaging and processing vs. the visual ablity of the observer. Perhaps if I was more on my game or took the time to sketch I may have seen one of those spots.
